30 Essential Productivity Tools Every Business Owner Should Try In 2019
Whether you’re a small to mid-size business, a startup, non-profit, freelancer or entrepreneur, I’m confident you’ll find some tools in this list to help you grow your business in 2019.

I’ve put together this list of helpful resources and tools which I use in my own business. Some of these may already be familiar to you but I am guessing some of them may also be new to you too.
Best of all — each of these tools are completely free (or free to start with) — an added bonus for those operating on a shoe-string budget. You can always level up to a paid plan as you scale your business.
Airtable is a project management tool built around three major display types: sheet, calendar and gallery. The native mobile and desktop apps make it easy to edit, comment, and collaborate in real time with your team — changes are instantly synced across everyone’s devices
Price: Free basic account and tiered pricing starting at $10 pm.
Great email productivity tool. Boomerang allows you to schedule messages to be sent or returned at a later date. Write a message now, send it whenever, even if you’re not online. Track messages to make sure you hear back, and schedule reminders right inside Gmail and know whether your email got read with cross-platform read receipts.
Boomerang also helps you to postpone (“snooze”) incoming emails, by making them disappear from your Inbox into a folder or label, then bringing them back to the top of the message list at the specified time. It helps you keep your Inbox clean, without losing track of important messages. I also like to use the Inbox Pause feature to temporarily pause my Inbox so I can work more productively.

Alongside Hootsuite (see below) I use Buffer on a daily basis to schedule my Twitter posts. Posting updates across multiple social media channels can be a bit overwhelming and time-consuming. With Buffer you load up your posts in a queue and they will be sent out automatically by Buffer, according to the posting schedule that you put in place.
Price: The free account allows you to connect 3 social accounts and schedule 10 posts per account per day. Pro plans start at $15 pm.
Burst is a free stock photo site that is powered by Shopify, with many of its collections created with entrepreneurs in mind. You can use these free photos on your online store, product packaging, or anywhere else you’d like.
Check out the “Business Ideas” feature for free photo collections and case studies that revolve around trending e-commerce niches. The free photo sets include both the product shots and lifestyle images so that you have all the stock images you need to create a professional brand for free.
Book your 2019 meetings with Calendly. The free plan also includes confirmation and reminder emails and calendar integrations with Google Calendar. It’s great for scheduling meetings in different time zones.

CintaNotes is a Windows notes app for creating, editing and managing your day to day notes. It integrates with Simplenote, Dropbox and Google Drive and syncs with iOS and Android.

Evernote is one of the everyday tools I use to keep me organized. A note-taking app which synchronizes all your files by saving them to a cloud service. quickly capture ideas, whether they’re notes, to-do lists, reminders, or even pictures. Because Evernote has apps for mobile, desktop, and web, your notes are instantly available on all of your devices.
Price: Free for basic plan; Premium plan starts at $6.99 pm.
Feedly is a news aggregator app which compiles news feeds from a variety of online sources for the user to customize and share with others. It syncs your favourite news sources across your browser and mobile devices and suggests other feeds you might find interesting.
Google Alerts are email updates of the latest relevant Google results (web, news, blogs) based around your topic of interest. Use Google Alerts to monitor who’s talking about you, your company and industry trends.
10. Google Analytics
Google Analytics is a free web analytics tool offered by Google to help you analyze your website traffic. It allows you to dig deep into user behaviour and demographics so you can better target your audience and optimize your pages.
Price: Free for individuals and SMEs
A Google Chrome extension, Dictionary is incredibly simple to use. To use it, all you need to do is to double-click the word you wish to check the meaning of and view its definition in a small pop-up bubble. Foreign words are automatically translated to your language of choice.
Another of my everyday tools, Google Drive is a file storage and synchronization service which allows users to store files on their servers, synchronize files across devices, and share files.
Price: Google will give you 15GB of free cloud storage just for signing up. However, it’s important to realize that all of that free space is shared between Google Drive, Google Photos and Gmail.
Avoid grammatical mistakes and misspellings with Grammarly — a free writing app available as a Google Chrome Extension. Adding Grammarly to Chrome means that your spelling and grammar will be vetted on Gmail, Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Tumblr, and nearly everywhere else you write on the web. I use it all the time and find it super useful.
A proofreading tool which clears your copy of all unnecessary copy. Just paste your text into the editor and you’ll get an analysis that highlights lengthy, complex sentences, adverbs, passive voice, and common errors.
Hootsuite is a very useful application for managing all your social media channels in one place. It enables you to view and monitor multiple streams in a single dashboard and allows you to keep tabs on key phrases, terms, keywords, brand mentions, etc.
Price: The basic Hootsuite plan is free. 30-day trials for pro plans are available.
Hotjar offers website heatmaps, scroll maps, click maps and more, alongside visitor recordings and website funnel mapping. By combining both Analysis and Feedback tools, Hotjar gives you the ‘big picture’ of how to improve your site’s user experience and performance/conversion rates
Price: The free plan covers businesses with up to 2,000 pageviews per day.
IFTTT (an acronym for If This, Then That) allows you to sync up multiple apps so that when a certain activity happens, it kicks off a separate activity in another app. There are lots of ways to use this tool, for example, I use IFTTT to add my tweets to a Google Spreadsheet to create a Twitter Bank of tweets to draw on.
Simple video conferencing tool. If you’re looking to connect with clients, prospects, and remote workers, you’ll need a reliable video conferencing solution to help you get the job done.
Price: Join.me offers a free plan that lets you invite up to 10 video participants, share screens, and supports up to five video feeds.
ManyChat lets you create a Facebook Messenger bot for marketing, sales and support. The visual drag`n`drop builder makes it easy to set up your Facebook Messenger bot. No programming required — just connect your Facebook page to ManyChat and you`ll be up in no time.
Price: Free to start, ManyChat automatically selects a tier based on a number of your subscribers. It calculates how long each tier was eligible during a month and adjust total price accordingly, so you only pay for what you use.
MailChimp is the email marketing platform I use to send a weekly email to my email list. Its drag-and-drop email templates make it super easy to use.
Price: Service tiers are priced depending on how many emails you send per month. If your company sends fewer than 12,000 email messages per month to fewer than 2,000 subscribers, the Forever Free plan is perfect for you.
No time to read something? Then save it to Pocket. This tool helps you keep links until you need them in the future. Save articles, videos and stories from any publication, page or app.
Price: Free. Premium $49.99 per year
Slack is the #1 inter-office communication platform, enabling your team to communicate, share files, and engage with each other throughout the day.
Price: It’s free for up to 10,000 messages. After that it can remain free but your archive of messages to search is just limited to 10,000 (so it will simply erase the oldest ones as new ones come in).
A stock image site focused on providing free stock images for “startups, bloggers, publishers, websites, designers, developers, creators, and everyone else.”
Need to conduct market research? SurveyGizmo is an online survey tool which can help you gain actionable insights from your target audience.
Price: The free plan places no limits on the number of surveys, questions, or responses you manage. Pro plans start at $25 pm.
With Voxeeet you can join a conference call from over 40 countries around the world without paying international charges. The app boasts a 3D conference call experience using HD audio and sound algorithms resulting in clear immersive sound.

Want to visualize data? You can create interactive presentations, infographics, banner ads, animations, customer layouts, and more with Visme. Search through hundreds of custom templates and fully customize each of them to fit your specific business needs. Insert text using Visme’s shapes and icons, images as well as widgets to visualize your data into graphs and tables. You can even add video or record audio.

Wrike is a project-management platform with plenty of ways to integrate with other apps and services and very quick setup.
Price: It offers five tiers of service, including a free plan. The free account supports up to five users, an unlimited number of collaborators and number of projects and includes 2 gigabytes of storage space.
Wunderlist coordinates deadlines, allows you to share, comment, and work collaboratively and organize your work into shared folders.

Zoom video conference allows you to have video conferences with anyone from around the world. Hold online meetings, trainings, webinars and conference calls with the Zoom app.
Price: The free plan allows unlimited one on one video conferencing and up to 40 minutes for groups. It also includes screen share, a chat function and a record feature.
